Completed badges.

The design depicts our company logo, using the initials as a design source. We deliberately choose to have quite a polished and professional look as this reflects the public facing perception our company wishes the public to see. The silver badges could be used for the public who purchase a Home Robot, whilst the Perspex badges could be used for employees of the company.
Possible improvements for the badge design could be; using a brooch bar clasps instead of the button pin for the silver badge. This would prevent the badge from being lost. Maybe etching a surface detail on to both or just the silver design, such as the name of the company or a company division/department name. Could rivet a back plate such as anodised aluminium, or titanium to the Perspex badges.

Why should we fear robots, the can be seen to be carrying out the jobs and tasks that we do not want to do ourselves. they can be seen to be making our lives safer by risk assessing dangerous situations. Outside of the armed forces they are being manufactured as helpers and are not to be feared. What we need to fear is the people who are controlling them. The humans that by the very nature of being human are open to distortion of emotions and likely to abuse the power they have. We need to fear those who use robots to try and control peoples behaviour and actions.

The predicted trend is that we will increasingly try to improve our performance with the use of technological implants. Live longer, stronger and more agile bodies, greater intelligence, direct link with social medias and other networks. Become part computer. Do we face the danger of being taken over by the very computer that we have implanted that uses its logic to govern our behaviour or will our brains kick in and say this is no short of creating a open prison for ourselves where we are police by everyone around us and the technology that is inside us?

The question we must ask is not if, but rather when will we (humans) all be out of a job. Many work places already have robotics which carry out a large proportion of the manufacturing, analytical jobs. What are the side effects of huge job losses? Will we just create roles for ourselves that we justify as necessary? will the robots free us to think about problems in a new way, which was previously not possible.

How long has the concept of artificial intelligence been around? Well I suppose it depends on how you classify artificial intelligence. If you term intelligence by logic and the ability to reason and as a result produce a outcome, then artificial intelligence has been around for quite a while. However if we are talking about emotions, feelings and responding to these in a suitable manner then I still think robots have far to go.
